JANGA 3/2mm Full Wetsuits

What is a 3/2 Wetsuit?

A 3/2 wetsuit means different thicknesses in different parts of the suit — on purpose.

  • 3mm neoprene in the core (chest, back, thighs)
Keeps your body warm where it matters most.
With or without a thermal inner layer.
  • 2mm neoprene in the arms and legs
Lighter, stretchier, easier paddling and smoother turns.
  • Ideal water temp: 58–68°F / 14–20°C
  • Best seasons: spring, summer, fall.

What temperature is a 3/2 full wetsuit for?

If the water temperature is:

  • Too cold for a springsuit
  • Too warm for a 4/3

…you're in 3/2 territory.

Typical 3/2 conditions:

  • Northern & Central California summer
  • Southern California spring and fall
  • Atlantic ocean summer surf
  • Portugal late spring through early fall

Sizing and Fit Guide

A good 3/2 should:

  • Feel really tight, not comfy like a hoodie
  • Sit flat on your lower back and neck
  • Have no loose fabric behind the knees or under the arms
  • Stay tight in the chest without restricting breath

If water pools inside the suit — it's too big.
If you can't raise your arms — it's too small.

JANGA suits are cut for real surfers, not mannequins. If you're between sizes or built differently, custom is always an option.

No zip, chest zip or back zip?

There's no "best" — just what fits your surf life.

Back Zip

  • Easiest entry/exit
  • Lets in a bit more water
  • Best for beginners, casual surfers, schools & rentals

Chest Zip

  • More watertight seal
  • Better flexibility
  • Easy entry
  • Preferred by most surfers

Zip-Free (Zipperless)

  • Maximum flexibility
  • Minimal water entry
  • Harder to put on at first
  • Premium performance option

Once you go zip-free, it's hard to go back.

Seam Construction Types

Seams decide how warm (and how long-lasting) your wetsuit really is.

Flatlock Seams

  • Best for: 68°F+ water
  • Pros: Flexible, durable, affordable
  • Cons: Lets some water through
  • Great for warm-water surfers, school & rental suits

Sealed (GBS) Seams

  • Best for: 62-68°F water
  • Glued and blind-stitched
  • Better water resistance than flatlock
  • Solid everyday option

Sealed & Taped Seams

  • Best for: 58°F+ water
  • Maximum durability and warmth
  • Fully watertight construction
  • Premium choice for longer, colder sessions

FAQs

What does 3/2 mean on a wetsuit?

It refers to neoprene thickness: 3mm in the torso for warmth, 2mm in the arms and legs for flexibility.

Should I get a 3/2 or a 4/3 wetsuit?

If the water regularly drops below 58°F / 14°C, go 4/3. If not, a 3/2 will feel lighter, more stretch, and more fun.

What should I look for in fit and sizing?

Snug, no gaps, no folding neoprene. A wetsuit should feel tight dry and perfect wet.

What makes a 3/2 wetsuit "high-end"?

Better neoprene (look for Japanese Yamamoto limestone based neoprene), smarter seam construction, cleaner panel layout, and a fit that actually works in the water — not just on the hanger.
